Kelly Clayton was born and raised in Louisiana. Writing poetry full time, she has earned a living as a cook, waiter, companion for the elderly, publisher's assistant, and housekeeper. She currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband and youngest of four sons, and teaches creative writing in the New York City public schools.
