Stephen Lewandowski

 
 
BIO
 
Stephen Lewandowski has published eight books of poetry, and his poems and essays have appeared in regional and national environmental and literary journals and anthologies. He is a graduate of Hamilton College and later did graduate work with Louis Jones in the Cooperstown Graduate Programs in American Folk Culture and with Howard Nemerov and William Gass at Washington University in St. Louis.
 
Lewandowski has worked as an environmental educator and consultant in the western Finger Lakes for thirty years. He is a founder of the Coalition for Hemlock and Canadice Lakes and the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Task Force and worked on the development of watershed management plans for many of the Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario. He has received the environmental achievement awards from the Finger Lakes Community College, Canandaigua Lake Pure Waters, and the Finger Lakes Land Trust. He was elected to the Naples Town and Village Boards and has served on boards and advisory committees to the Finger Lakes Land Trust, Ganondagan State Historic Site, Rochester Committee for Scientific Information, NYS Open Space Committee, and the Cornell College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He has been acknowledged as a Graduate of Distinction of Canandaigua Academy for his work in the arts and the environment and currently serves on the Board of Pegasus Early Music.
 
His most recent book of poems, One Life, was published by Wood Thrush Books of Vermont. His work is either forthcoming or recently published in snowy egret, Bellowing Ark, Pegasus, Hanging Loose, Free Verse, Avocet, and Blueline. Contact the author at stachu14512@yahoo.com.
