Submit Your Work

Before submitting anything to us, please refer to our Guidelines page for acceptable submission materials and file formats. We will automatically reject any submissions that do not conform to these guidelines.

Magazine Submissions

There are two ways to submit your poetry to our online magazine: by email or via our submission wizard. If your submission attempt is successful, you will receive an automatic email response confirming receipt.

Normally, you should allow up to three months for a decision on your submission. Note, however, that during the months of April through June, our book contest is our highest priority. Our editors may read your magazine submission during this time, but the final decision may be postponed until the contest winner is announced because our Editor-in-Chief is the final arbiter of both.

Submission by Email

With the exception of large files (again, refer to our guidelines), you may submit your work via email to submissions@futurecycle.org.

Submission by Wizard

You can submit online via our submission wizard, which will open a form in a new window. This form is to be used only for submissions to our online magazine.

The submission wizard allows you to submit up to six files: for example, four poems, one bio, and one photograph. When preparing to upload files, please follow the form labels, which are self-explanatory. In addition to cover material, please submit no more than four poems (or, for longer poems, four pages) via the wizard.
Important! The submission wizard is optimized for recent versions of the Internet Explorer browser and Windows-compatible computers. Those using other browsers or OS types may have problems submitting via the wizard. If you encounter difficulties, please submit by email instead.

Book Contest Submissions

Because book contest submissions are handled differently from all other submissions, please refer to the Contest page for guidelines.

Other Submissions

We also consider submissions of essays, reviews, and other materials such as poetry chapbooks or cover artwork for use in one of our printed books or magazines. With the exception of reviews (see our Reviews page), we consider these materials only after we've decided on any magazine and book contest submissions we have in house. For this reason, it may take us longer to get around to your submission. (If you're the impatient type, it's usually best to query us first before sending.) Know, however, that we will get to your submission eventually and that, when we do, we will give your work the careful attention it deserves. Like you, we loathe having something "out there” for months, only to receive it back with a "we're not considering submissions right now” response!
